When your sexuality exhibits in a way that’s different from the norm, it’s not uncommon to try to “perform” normativity out of a fear of backlash. And this can often bleed into your interpersonal relationships, adding a layer of anxiety around whether the other person will find out, whether or not they’ll accept you for who you are. This very anxiety is captured in a light-hearted but sensitive way in the short film, Baby Steps, where a seemingly mundane Skype conversation between a mother and son turns into something more.
