Video: Why we shouldn’t shy away from sexual education | Dr. V. Chandra-Mouli | TEDxChisinau

Dr. V. Chandra-Mouli makes a powerful case for sexuality education for young people and why it is important for their physical, psychological and social development. As he emphasises, sexuality education helps to prepare young people have a healthy sexual and reproductive life, build social skills, prevent infections and unwanted pregnancies, develop equitable relationships, and become assertive and build confidence.

He focuses on the fact that sexuality education is the right of every young person and that the lack of this information confuses young people, gives them mixed messages, aggravates mental health issues, and burdens them with guilt, shame and fear. Providing sexuality education needs to be a collaborative effort of schools, government programs, parents, and society as a whole, to make it abundantly available and build a responsible, healthy and happy future for young people.
