Brushstrokes: The Feminist Alphabet

What if each letter of the alphabet represented a powerful feminist concept? Artist Kruttika Susarla imagines it, through her entry for 36 Days of Type – an annual event where designers and artists around the world are encouraged to create their own interpretation of the alphabet. In Susarla’s version of the ‘type’ (which she titles The Feminist Alphabet), she assigns each alphabet of the English language a connotation that has to do with gender or sexuality. From bodily integrity to gender performativity, from consent to intersectionality, from queerness to sex work, she covers a vast landscape of ideas, almost reappropriating language by attaching radical new meanings to its letters.
