CSE Workshops for Teachers and Educators

TARSHI has been driving many activities towards building a common understanding on the meaning of, and the need for Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in schools.TARSHI believes in the right of all people – especially young people and women, – to have accurate information on sexuality, so they can make informed choices about their own lives.

Studies such as UNESCO’s six-country study(including India) on the cost and cost-effectiveness of sexuality education programmesauthenticate what we have found to be true from our work experience: that young people need correct information, to be in a better position to make responsible and safer choices for themselves. Yet, CSE attracts much discussion for and against it! (Please click here to read some frequently asked questions related to CSE).

Keeping this in mind, we have been conducting trainings, workshops and sensitisation sessions with service providers who are working with young people and teachers and parents in schools and colleges on a range of issues related to sexuality and aiming to provide them a safe space so that they can clarify their doubts and have an opportunity to engage comfortably on such issues.

We conduct trainings on basic concepts related to gender and sexuality, with an emphasis on CSE, so that the service providers and teachers as trainees not only assimilate accurate knowledge at a personal level but also develop the skills to impart the same to the children/young people and parents they deal with. The aim of these trainings and workshops are to help teachers understand the importance of CSE and to help them manage their discomfort around the issue. Along with the trainings and workshops, TARSHI also offers an Online Course on CSEand a Teachers Workbook on Sexuality, The Orange Book.

Some of the schools and colleges we have conducted workshops and sessions for and with are:  Presidium, Pardada Pardadi Educational Society,  Bharat National Public School, Welham Girl’s School, and Step by Step, colleges and universities like Delhi University,  Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Institute of Home Economics, Delhi etc.  To contact us for trainings and workshops, click here.
