Flip the Story: Card Game on Reimagining Vocabulary on Sexuality and Rights

1,000.00

What happens when the languages we speak don’t have words to express desire, pleasure, or identity without shame?

Language shapes how we think, feel, and talk about sexuality, gender, and rights. Many everyday words in English, Hindi, and other languages carry stigma, judgment, or exclude many of us, especially if we have marginalised identities. The game is designed to help us rethink that language and rebuild vocabulary that is rights-based and affirming.

This is an interactive game through which participants will reflect on these words and explore TARSHI’s alternative, affirming vocabulary that reframes sexuality from a rights-based and affirming lens. The game aims to generate discussion and awareness of how replacing one word can shift narratives on language and sexuality. It also gives scope to think about new terms or replacement terms, with TARSHI’s words as an example.

Who is this for?

  • Organisations working on gender, sexuality and sexual and reproductive health and rights across the globe.
  • Anyone who believes in using rights-based, pleasure-affirming vocabulary

What’s inside the game?

Two sets of card games:

  • Language makeover: which has a set of questions or statements and 4 cards that are options for the answers.
  • Flip the Story: which has cards with some terms in English, explainers in Hindi and 10 blank cards.

Here’s an instructions guide on how to play the game.
