There it was the road I was looking for,<\/p>\n
Where I walked in my night dress<\/p>\n
under the morning sun,<\/p>\n
with no sleeves and no legs<\/p>\n
with no bra and no shame.<\/p>\n
I walked out in my night dress<\/p>\n
Under the morning sun.<\/p>\n
First one glare and then one stare<\/p>\n
and then a three and four.<\/p>\n
Then a woman who looked,<\/p>\n
as if she never saw a night dress before,<\/p>\n
out in the sun walking on its own.<\/p>\n
red rashes on my neck,<\/p>\n
hairy legs and eruptions on my face.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
They looked and looked to find out<\/p>\n
If that was really a day dress.<\/p>\n
My body seemed to be owned,<\/p>\n
to have spilled out of the limbs and bones,<\/p>\n
that I try to gather every morning<\/p>\n
to walk out in my night dress.<\/p>\n
One passed by singing<\/p>\n
and the other with disgust,<\/p>\n
another did not bother,<\/p>\n
another did not look at me<\/p>\n
as this one felt ashamed<\/p>\n
as I walked out in my night dress<\/p>\n
and took my burden of shame.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There were thousand stares,<\/p>\n
of thousand eyes<\/p>\n
stuck on my legs,<\/p>\n
making me think of cursed Indra.<\/p>\n
But he was a God and I a being.<\/p>\n
I walked to the store and walked back,<\/p>\n
as I reached the staircase of the house,<\/p>\n
I felt dressed again,<\/p>\n
In my night dress,<\/p>\n
That I walked in,<\/p>\n
in the morning sun.<\/p>\n
