{"id":6365,"date":"2015-07-15T11:00:43","date_gmt":"2015-07-15T05:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tarshi.net\/inplainspeak?p=6365"},"modified":"2019-03-26T14:42:03","modified_gmt":"2019-03-26T09:12:03","slug":"brushstrokessongs-of-selfies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tarshi.net\/inplainspeak\/brushstrokessongs-of-selfies\/","title":{"rendered":"Brushstrokes: Songs of Selfies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[slideshow_deploy id=&#8217;6357&#8242;]<\/p>\n<p>The songs of selfies played its colourful tune,\u00a0with selfies coming out as musical notes from the gramophone kept at the corner.\u00a0\u2018Exhibiting the Self\u2019, a photo exhibition\u00a0organised by\u00a0Gender Studies\/School of Human Studies (Ambedkar University Delhi) on March 13, 2015 was a novel way to introspect and delve upon the gendered aspects that dwell in every click of ours.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition had all sorts of selfies, from groupfies, to pouts, to swagger, to innovation, to artistic ones, to happy memories, to self-portraits. You name it and the wall had it. The exhibition brought the selfies to life and the selfies narrated the inextricability of gender from our selves. It was an assemblage of technology, gender, sexuality and the self.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Editor\u2019s Note: The credits for the photographs of the exhibition go to the author, Pallavi.
