I only ever read your letters
\nto learn what patterns to avoid
\nin future relationships.
\nI never read that Nicholas Sparks book
\nbut one day it fell open on the page
\nwhere you had highlighted a marriage proposal.
\nOh honey, we were too young to marry.
\nThat pen you gave me
\nas a symbol of a promise \u2013
\nit had no ink \u2013 and I wonder
\nat how apt that was.
\nI threw it out.
\nWhat to do though with the gift
\nof your memories?<\/p>\n
