Just like\u00a0sexuality<\/span>\u00a0and its manifestations,\u00a0travel<\/span>\u00a0can be construed in so many ways \u2013 from one part of the world to another, from sky to ocean, from room to room,\u00a0travel<\/span>\u00a0within a city, between point and point, states of mind and emotion, or between the virtual and IRL (In Real Life)\u2026 Our\u00a0Travel<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0Sexuality<\/span>\u00a0issues this month will find some ways to navigate some of the nodes of connect between\u00a0sexuality<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0travel<\/span>, and leave some others (such as migration) for future issues to tackle.<\/p>\n

Shikha Aleya once again contributes the Issue In Focus \u2013 this time\u00a0a hilarious take<\/a>\u00a0on all the ways in which\u00a0travelling<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0sexuality<\/span>\u00a0fumble and tumble together.<\/p>\n

Niyati Dave recounts her experience of\u00a0the queer scene in Tokyo<\/a>\u00a0as an Indian, while a guest writer finds herself\u00a0accepting an invitation<\/a>\u00a0to a rendezvous with a stranger on a work trip. Shweta Krishnan muses over\u00a0several of her trips<\/a>, her writing guided by stanzas of Eunice de Souza\u2019s poem,\u00a0Travelling<\/span><\/em>, and accompanied by photographs she took along her ways. Surbhi Dewan also writes about her unforgettable journey\u00a0into the heart of Orissa<\/a>\u00a0to film traditional theatre renderings of the Ramleela.<\/p>\n

Kristin Francoeur investigates in her Voices piece<\/a>, the different paths people around the world take to undergo an abortion \u2013 unfortunately sometimes dangerous, many a time illegal, and always complicated. Moulshri Mohan does a fine investigation of the role of class privilege in contemporary urban South Asian activism on pleasure and public spaces\u00a0in parts\u00a0one<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0two<\/a>\u00a0of her Voices article.<\/p>\n

Japleen Pasricha gives us a taste of her chosen passion in her piece about\u00a0her solo\u00a0travels<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in India and around the world \u2013 the funny incidents and the lasting impressions, all brought to life with photographs.<\/p>\n

TARSHI interviews Iranian feminist activist Nikzad Zangeneh in\u00a0Traversing Oppression, Imperialism and Feminism in the Middle East<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Brushstrokes features an experiment in what happens when one woman is subjected to\u00a0beauty standards from 18 countries<\/a>\u00a0around the world, and the Video Page has feminist activist Kavita Krishnan\u2019s\u00a0powerful speech<\/a>\u00a0(in Hindi) on women\u2019s mobility after the December 2012 gang rape in New Delhi.<\/p>\n

The Hindi section carries two translations \u2013 the Video Page with Kavita Krishnan\u2019s\u00a0fiery speech<\/a>, and the second part of Moulshri Mohan\u2019s article on\u00a0pleasure and public spaces<\/a>.<\/p>\n
