Girls soon started\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/life\/broadsheet\/2010\/06\/24\/let_bros_ice_bros_and_girls_busch_girls\" target=\"_blank\">Busching girls<\/a>, replacing the bottle of Smirnoff Ice with cans of Busch beer. This time, the idea was to embarrass women by making them drink bottles of a vile brew otherwise seen in the hands of manly men.<\/p>\n<p>So what is it with certain foods (and drinks) getting the boys vs. girls treatment? There may be a few male stars \u2014 like Joaquin Phoenix and Tobey Maguire \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.treehugger.com\/galleries\/2009\/01\/vegetarians-we-love.php?page=1\" target=\"_blank\">who are vegetarians<\/a>, and women may be joining the ranks of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodeater.org\/2010\/06\/29\/in-heels-and-backwards-women-butchers-break-bones-and-barriers\/\" target=\"_blank\">bloody-aproned butchers<\/a>, but in the American consciousness,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vGLHlvb8skQ\" target=\"_blank\">real men still don\u2019t eat quiche<\/a>\u00a0and women stick with chocolate, tofu and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=H1A_Y3IHOlw&amp;feature=player_embedded\" target=\"_blank\">yogurt<\/a>. This could easily be the handiwork of the evil geniuses on Madison Avenue, but might these clich\u00e9s also arise from some long-buried grain of truth? Are genetic differences responsible for our gendered eating? How many of our eating patterns come from gender socialization, and how many are hereditary?
