The Sexuality and Rights Institute, is an annual two week long
residential course in collaboration with CREA. The Institute examines the
links between sexuality and rights and their interface with the related
fields of gender and health with a focus on the conceptual study of
sexuality.
It aims to develop the analytical skills of participants to critically
examine how various strategies and practices in the field of sexual and
reproductive health affirm or violate rights. Participants examine sexual
and reproductive health programmes as well as various legal and
socio-cultural issues. Throughout the course, participants are encouraged
to question the assumptions on which they base their work and theorising.
National and international faculty teach the course using different
pedagogical methods. These methods are reading assignments, classroom
instruction, group work, case studies, simulation exercises, fictional
reading and films. |
