In December 2003 TARSHI in collaboration with
CREA, presented Broadway
star
Sarah Jones in her new solo performance “Waking the American Dream”
in Delhi.
The play is a powerful exploration of the complexities of identity and
freedom in immigrants' lives in the United States of America. At a time
when identities have become the ground on which hostilities are
concentrated, it is important to emphasize tolerance and respect for
diversity. Diversity is the essence of being human. To celebrate
diversity is to create and promote spaces for different expressions -
social, artistic, sexual, literary, cultural and religious.
Sarah Jones and Tony Award winner, Steve Colman also used the powerful
style of slam poetry to comment on the state of the world in three highly
appreciated shows in Delhi and Mumbai.
