Intimacy between partners often occurs in the quieter moments, in the smaller milestones, in the subtler exchanges of affection, domesticity and warmth. It is the ways in which you take care of each other, in how you occupy the physical and personal spaces around each other, in how you eat or sleep or simply exist together – because love isn’t always about big gestures, it’s about the shared sense of familiarity and comfort, of a sense of belonging. Artist Amanda Oleander’s paintings capture just that, chronicling the everyday lives of couples and the various mundane things they do together that are simultaneously deeply intimate and poignant.
