Regional Organisations and Networks working on Sexuality

Action Plus
Action Plus, comprising of 14 NGOs that work on HIV/AIDS issues, was born in 1997 as a coalition (then called Networks), out of the vision of grantee organisations of the Ford Foundation working on HIV/AIDS, exploring common pathways for social action through exchange and mutual learning to effectively mount a joint response to the growing HIV pandemic. The coalition aims to confront the evolving and complex challenges by developing strategic leadership and promoting linkages between organizations that work on common interests. Action Plus fosters an environment in which its member organisations share with each other their experiences and learn together to operate more strategically to address issues of HIV and AIDS.

Asia Pacific Coalition on Male Sexual Health (APCOM)
The Asia Pacific Coalition on Male Sexual Health is a regional coalition of MSM and HIV community-based organisations, the government sector, donors, technical experts and the UN system. The main purpose is advocating for political support and increases in investment and coverage of HIV services in Asia Pacific. APCOM promotes principles of good practice and lessons learnt by bringing together representatives from diverse groups in an effort to share experience, knowledge and expertise.

Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD), Chiangmai
APWLD's broad approach to women's human rights includes programs on rural and indigenous women, the environment, and labor and migration. APWLD's programs and activities are focused in promoting women's rights human rights as an analytical and strategic framework of engaging with the legal system to empower women. They have engaged primarily in policy advocacy, education, training and other activities to address issues and concerns of poor and marginalized women in the region. It has lobbied at regional and international levels for the implementation of government commitments in international conventions and the integration of gender issues at regional and international fora.

Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers (APNSW)
The APNSW was formed in 1994 by members of some of Asia’s first organizations to work on health and human rights with sex workers such as Empower Thailand, Sweetly Japan, Pink Triangle Malaysia, the Scarlet Alliance Australia and Sonagachi. The APNSW facilitates sex worker participation and information sharing on both technical and policy issues, encourages leadership amongst male, female and transgender sex workers and does direct advocacy.

International Women's Rights Action Watch (IWRAW) - Asia Pacific
IWRAW Asia Pacific is a non-profit international women's organisation based in the South. We promote the domestic implementation of international human rights standards by building the capacity of women and human rights advocates to claim and realise women's human rights. This is done through the development of new knowledge and the utilisation of a rights-based approach. Apart from information about us, this website has been designed to provide official and practical information on the application of the UN CEDAW Convention and other international human rights treaties.

Network of Asia Pacific Youth (NAPY), Quezon City
NAPY was formed to develop a more organized, participatory process for young people to be involved at the international level in policy and advocacy initiatives surrounding sexual and reproductive health and rights issues. NAPY develops policy statements, engages in UN advocacy, and works to promote regional level dialogue among Asia-Pacific youth around sexual and reproductive health and rights.
