A court in communist Vietnam has jailed five people for up to 17 years for trafficking women to Malaysia and forcing them to work as prostitutes, a court official and media reports said Tuesday.

Prisoners With HIV, AIDS in Thailand Now Receive Vital Treatment

Prisoners living with HIV and AIDS at three Bangkok area prisons are able to receive proper medical care, thanks to a program begun by Doctors Without Borders. Starting in 2009, the Thai government will assume responsibility for all HIV/AIDS programs in prisons.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. While we celebrate it, it is also a time to reflect on some milestones in respect of civil and political rights in the country this past year.
