Sexuality, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
September 19 - 22, 2011 New Delhi, India
Like the earlier Regional Trainings, this training also aimed to help participants better understand aspects related to sexuality,
sexual and reproductive health and rights. In addition, the training was meant to clarify basic concepts around sexuality, sexual
and reproductive health and rights and help participants understand their links to law, policy and social realities.
Participants – There were 20 participants in
this training. These included individuals who have been working as trainers, counsellors, researchers, teachers and activists on issues of gender,
reproductive health, HIV, development, education, research etc. They came from nine countries within the region: Bangladesh,
Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam.
Fees – The cost of travel and accommodation for all participants was covered.
Faculty – The resource persons were from
within TARSHI in addition to queer feminist activist, Pramada Menon.
Training methods and tools included interactive exercises, presentations, readings, films, discussions, debates,
group work and case studies. The medium of instruction was English. |

Sexuality, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
June 14 - 18, 2010 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Like the 1st such Training in 2008, the 2nd Regional Training also aimed to bring practitioners and activists from various countries in South and
Southeast Asia in order to better understand sexuality and rights related issues, challenges and concerns faced by all. In addition, the training was
meant to clarify basic concepts around sexuality, sexual and reproductive health and rights and help participants understand their links to law, policy
and social realities.
Participants – There were 22 participants. These included individuals who have been working on issues of gender, reproductive health, HIV,
development, education, etc. Some of them had not engaged with sexuality issues previously in their work. They came from different countries within the
region: Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. They were selected on the basis of an
application process.
Fees – The cost of travel and accommodation for all participants was covered.
Faculty – The resource persons were from within TARSHI and Malaysia based ARROW in addition to Ms. Khartini Slamah.
Training methods and tools included interactive exercises, presentations, readings, films, discussions, debates, group work and case studies. The medium
of instruction was English. |

Sexuality, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
Manesar (Haryana), India, 11th -16th Feb, 2008
The aim of the training was to help participants understand aspects related to sexuality, sexual and reproductive health and rights.
It provided basic information on topics like sexual and reproductive anatomy and physiology and HIV/AIDS. The focus of the training was to clarify
certain issues, and to encourage the participants to incorporate concepts of sexuality and rights in their day-to-day work. For example: research,
making Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, conducting sexuality education in schools, policy interventions, etc.
Topics included:
- Understanding Sexuality and Gender
- Sexual and Reproductive Health
- Sexual and Reproductive Rights
- Sexuality and Power/Violence
- Sexuality and Marginalisation
- Sexuality and Pleasure

included individuals who have been working on issues of gender,
reproductive health, HIV, development, education, etc. Some of them had
not engaged with sexuality issues previously in their work. They came
