For free, accurate & concise Information on Sexuality and Reproductive Health Issues

TARSHI aims to address all people, especially women and young people through its various programmes. TARSHI is one of the few NGOs in India that works on sexuality, without restricting it to a disease-prevention, violence against women or sexual minorities’ framework, but rather from an affirmative and rights-based approach.

TARSHI’s main programmes are described below:

  • The Infoline

  • TARSHI believes people of all ages have a right to information about their sexual and reproductive health concerns and a right to access appropriate services for these needs. The infoline provides information on a range of topics related to sexual and reproductive health, HIV, contraceptive choices, sexual and gender identities, violence, safety and pleasure.

  • Trainings and Institutes

TARSHI conducted trainings on helpline counselling skills and on sexuality and rights related issues tailor-made to suit the needs of organisations working in the field. It also conducts training of trainers.

TARSHI conducted the Sexuality and Rights Institute (in collaboration with CREA), and the Regional Institute on Sexuality, Society, and Culture, two annual conceptual courses focusing on the interface between sexuality, gender, health and rights. Both the institutes comprised of national and international faculty who use a range of pedagogical techniques.

  • Publications

TARSHI’s publications on sexuality and rights related issues, in both English and Hindi, are for diverse audiences including young people, professionals in the field, as well as the general public. TARSHI has especially focussed on developing publications that are gender-sensitive, non-heterosexist and affirming respect for all people and their right to sexual well-being.

  • Public Education and Advocacy Activities
  • TARSHI has conducted various public education and advocacy activities alone and also in partnership with other NGOs to create a broader public understanding about women’s rights, sexuality, gender and violence through public events, publications, campaigns and sessions in schools and colleges.
